You are shooting through
the target sequence with your lever action rifle and for some reason
(adrenaline, nerves, fatigue) you cycle the action and shoot. A round
does not go off – is it a squib round or were you out of ammo? This
situation can throw off your entire routine.
Cycling the action
again and you observe that no round (empty case or faulty round) is
ejected from the rifle. Ah – you just experienced the short cycled
situation. This is where you did not cycle the lever throughout its full
motion and a fresh round was not chambered.
You
chamber a fresh round and align the sight picture again, but where were
you in the shooting sequence! If you do not shoot the same target when
this short cycling occurred you will incur a failure to engage penalty
(10 seconds added onto your stage score). |
