You finally make the
decision and want to attend a Cowboy Action Shooting local match.
Problem is that you don’t have all of the stuff yet – guns, leather,
etc. Don’t fret of it – as others have said before “We learned how to
share when we were younger”. Every experienced CAS member were all in your
situation when they began. We all had to start somewhere and we know that
getting everything takes time and some thoughtful decisions.
You will find that the
club members are very understanding and accommodating. Most will have
extra leather rigs (holsters, belts, shot shell slides) that they are not
using and loaners can quickly be arranged. As we heard at one of our first
shoots “You will not be using the same equipment in the near future.”
This explains why extras are found at the clubs; they have upgraded or
changed to new leather rigs.
If you are missing one of
your guns, someone will offer to share with you. Club members really want
you to enjoy the sport. Conversations at the events always include what
has been done to this gun or that rifle. This invariably leads to an offer
to try out the slicked gun on the next stage. As you might expect there
may be some bragging rights involved as well. |
