Having the same pistols is
not a requirement for Cowboy Action Shooting, nor is it required to shoot
the same caliber in both pistols, but there are some advantages of
shooting identical pistols and identical cartridges in both guns.
Mismatched pistols
(caliber, model, barrel length) will handle differently and shoot
differently. Handling differences are due to variances in gun weight and
balance. Different calibers will obviously have different recoil
characteristics.
Having two different
caliber pistols will have the obvious disadvantage of keep up with
different cartridges.
A longer barrel on one
pistol will require a pronounced draw to clear the holster. Re-holstering
a long barreled pistol also requires extra care so that it goes where it
is supposed to go. |
